Is a Battery Right for You?

A battery helps you use more of your own solar in the evening, keeps your home running through storm-season outages, and reduces your reliance on the grid now that the 26 cent feed-in tariff has finished. Home batteries generally range from about 12 kWh to 60 kWh or more, and we size each system to your home. We can add a battery to existing solar if your inverter is compatible.

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program funds around a 30% discount on eligible batteries, tiered by battery size since 1 May 2026, and the NT battery scheme has closed. The discount also steps down every six months, with the next reduction scheduled for 1 January 2027. No-deposit finance is available, subject to credit approval. Read our guide to solar grants and programs and is a home battery worth it in Darwin.

FAQs

Battery and Backup Power Questions

Can a battery power my whole home during a blackout?

We normally install whole-home backup, so your battery can supply every circuit in the house when the grid goes down. How long it lasts depends on the battery size and what you are running. Air conditioners and electric hot water use a lot of power, so we size the battery around how you want to use it.

What size battery do I need?

It depends on your evening usage, the size of your solar system and how long you want backup to last. Home batteries generally range from about 12 kWh to 60 kWh or more. We size each system from your power bills and how you use electricity.

Can you add a battery to my existing solar system?

Often yes, if your inverter is compatible. We check your inverter, switchboard and usage during your free on-site consultation.

What rebates are available for a home battery?
